Steven Smith made a fantastic comeback to Test cricket with twin centuries against England in the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston. Not only it helped Australia win the series opener but it also helped Australia open their account in the World Test Championship table. Smith is one of the finest batsmen to have played Test cricket.
Former Australia opener, Chris Rogers hailed Smith and remarked that he is the league of the greats like Sachin, AB, and Kohli. "He (Smith) is right up there. I was lucky enough to play against Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. All of them were exceptional. Smith is in that league," said Rogers.
"What he is doing is fantastic too. When I played with him in 2013, I did not expect him to be in such a position," said Rogers who is at the MRF Pace Foundation here as head coach of the CA National Performance Squad.
Australia will take on England in the second Ashes Test at Lord's from August 14. After winning the Edgbaston Test, the visitors would look to continue their great run of form at the home of cricket as well.
