Former Pakistan speedster, Shoaib Akhtar, has a bold and fierce personality and he was always at the loggerheads with his counterparts during his heydays. Besides his lethal bowling attack, Akhtar used to dominate the headlines for his on-field altercations with the Indian cricketers. But after announcing his retirement, the legendary pacer has completely transformed his reputation from a rowdy athlete to a calm person. He has even managed to develop a good camaraderie with some of the Indian players.

The 44-year-old veteran recently recalled the incidents when he caused injuries to the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq in friendly banter. Akhtar said that he sometimes crossed the line while showing affection to other players.

“It’s my way of showing affection to other people and I basically crossed the line. When I like someone, I throw them,” The Rawalpindi Express said on BBC’s Doosra podcast.

I never realized my own power – Shoaib Akhtar

Shoaib Akhtar stated that he broke former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh’s back and even damaged the ribs of his teammate Shahid Afridi.

“I broke Yuvi’s back, have previously broken Afridi’s rib by hugging him, and I made Abdul Razzaq stretch his hamstring a bit too much. So my way of loving people is a bit wild. It was just me being stupid in my younger days but I never realized my own power,” Akhtar added.
