Twitterverse Wants Indian Citizenship For Rashid Khan, Sushma Swaraj Comes Up With A Solution

It would be an understatement to say Rashid Khan has been an absolute match winner in this edition of the Indian Premier League. Coming from a war ravaged Afghanistan, his journey to stardom is not less than a fairytale.

The 19-year old star performer has formed a close bond with the Indian masses since joining Sunrisers Hyderabad.

As the Indian Premier League 2018 progressed, Rashid Khan became a superstar in India, with fans requesting the Indian government to grant him Indian citizenship, tagging External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in their tweets.

Acknowledging the demand, she informed fans the way out before deleting her tweet.

“I have seen all the tweets. Citizenship matters are dealt with by Ministry of Home affairs.”

It was a sporting gesture from one of the most followed Indian ministers to indulge herself in a funny banter but the number of fans appealing for this on social media was way too high.

In the second qualifier against the Kolkata Knight Riders, Rashid Khan single-handedly won the game for his side. If his blinder with the bat was not enough, he trounced Knight Riders with googlies and other variations, winning Man of the Match award in the end.
