Here is what Rohit Sharma did after scoring 264 against Sri Lanka

Eden Gardens is one of the luckiest grounds for Rohit Sharma, having scored lot of runs at this venue. Be it in international cricket or the Indian Premier League, his bat has been scoring runs after runs. The most memorable knock of his career came in form of 264 runs in one of the ODIs against Sri Lanka in 2013.

There was no stopping for this Indian opener, who was severe against all the bowlers, hitting them for boundaries en route his world record innings. Remembering innings, Rohit Sharma has stated that he had a peaceful sleep after his marathon knock. He is part of the Indian team, which is due to play first test against Sri Lanka at this historical venue.

“Prior to the match, I was very nervous as I didn’t sleep properly. Five-six hours of sleep is never a good idea before a big game. I walked out into the middle, played a lot of balls, took my time at the start and I can still remember that I scored my first fifty off 74 balls (73 balls actually),”he said.

“As soon as I got to my 100, it was all about me making mistakes and getting out. I kept telling myself that I can bat as long as possible and try to get as many runs as possible. I kept batting and didn’t try to hit too many shots. As the outfield is really fast here, I was just trying to find gaps and hit the ball through that," he added.
