Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Umar Akmal has been replaced by Sarfraz Ahmad for the limited-overs tour of Zimbabwe later this month because of an undisclosed illness. Akmal had been playing for Barbados Tridents in the Caribbean Premier League but was summoned by the Pakistan Cricket Board to undergo a medical examination. The PCB said in a statement that it has "received confirmation from the West Indies today about Umar Akmal not being medically fit."
Akmal impressed with his wicketkeeping and batting during Pakistan's series victories in Twenty20 and one-day internationals against West Indies last month. Pakistan will play two Twenty20 matches and then three ODIs against Zimbabwe in Harare on a tour that starts on Aug. 23.
